At Issue In Our District
Opposing New State Taxes
Lynne Lechter is a strong proponent of lowering taxes because
she believes that by doing so it will spur economic growth
and prosperity for businesses and citizens alike. That is why
Lynne will absolutely oppose any new state taxes. As a small
business owner, Lynne understands how the tax structure in
Pennsylvania is stifling growth in our economy and preventing
us from unleashing our full economic potential. If elected,
Lynne will work tirelessly to eliminate the unnecessary burdens
that are preventing us from being the highly competitive state
that we could be.
Fighting for Open and Transparent Government at All Levels
Recent surveys have shown that the public’s faith in our
government is surprisingly low. But this is not without good
reason, as we all too often see news stories of the latest in
governmental corruption and abuse of power. Recently an open
records bill was passed in Pennsylvania, which laid a good foundation
towards open and transparent government. But we need to do more,
and Lynne will fight to ensure that people have open access to
records at all levels of government within the Commonwealth.
She will do her part to help restore the public’s faith
in their state government.
Protecting Our Lands & Finding New Energy Solutions
Our most precious natural gifts are under threat it seems at
almost every turn. Whether it be from overdevelopment or pollution,
it is clear that we must find solutions to help protect our
environment. That is why Lynne is fully committed to being
a steward of our environment. She will push for greater tax
incentives for individuals and companies to do their part in
reducing carbon emissions, and she will promote responsible
development with a strong focus on preserving our open spaces
as often as possible.
Advocating on Behalf of Pennsylvania’s Small
Businesses
As a small business owner Lynne understands first-hand the challenges
that our businesses face in Pennsylvania. A confusing tax structure
and a struggling economy make it difficult for any business
to achieve its full potential. There are hundreds of local
small businesses in the 149th district because it is a great
place to start and run a successful business. Knowing this,
Lynne will be the effective advocate who will work to bring
more job opportunities and greater investment into our region
and subsequently into our local businesses. This will benefit
everyone because a thriving local economy helps build better
neighborhoods.
Striving for Greater Education and Healthcare Benefits
for Our
Veterans and First Responders
Our veterans and first responders are the everyday heroes who
protect us and help us during dire circumstances. Lynne has a
record of supporting first responders through her tenure as a
citizen member of the Upper Merion Fire Rescue Board. She knows
that they deserve the absolute best and that is why she will
push for greater funding so that our first responders have the
equipment and training that they need in order to enhance their
ability to protect us. Lynne will also fight for increased educational
and healthcare benefits for our military personnel who have so
bravely served our country and especially for those still serving.
Keeping Disabled Elderly In Their Homes
There are many wonderful senior communities and retirement homes throughout the Commonwealth. However, some of our elderly prefer to stay in their own homes as long as possible. Towards that end, Lynne will advocate for enhanced assistance for the elderly who need help at home. This will allow senior residents to stay in their homes for as long as they want to be there.
Education: The Passport to Tomorrow and the Hallmark
of a Better Society
As a former teacher, adjunct professor, past Board of Trustees member of Montgomery County Community College, continuing legal education presenter, and author of legal materials, education has always played an integral part at all stages of Lynne’s life. Through education, America is one of the few societies that allows its citizens to better themselves and reinvent themselves in every age group. As a legislator, Lynne will do everything in her power to ensure that Pennsylvanian’s have access to the highest quality education in public, private, religious, and home school settings as well as through institutions of higher learning, trade schools, and retraining for those who find themselves between careers.
Opposing Eminent Domain In Our Community
Lynne is absolutely opposed to the use of eminent domain for private redevelopment projects in our community. She understands how this practice hurts our local business owners and hinders revitalization efforts. Lynne firmly believes that this practice should be reserved only for necessary infrastructural improvements, such as roads or utility access, only after notice, open, transparent hearings and fair and full compensation. As your State Representative, Lynne will absolutely oppose any efforts by local or state government to exercise the power of eminent domain for any private redevelopment projects.
